November 2023 General Meeting
Summary
Our General Meeting was held on November 14, 2023. Our presentation was on Genealogy. Our speakers were members Craig Gowans and Janie Light. “How to Start Researching Your Genealogy and How to Share it with Family” Part one of the presentation was the basics of gathering information, starting the process of recording that information in pedigree charts and/or in genealogy software. They showed the paper method, using the MacOS only genealogy application Reunion, and the online options provided by several genealogical websites to record the details of your family and ancestors, entering documentation and sources, and creating trees. Often genealogical research can be cryptic to those who aren’t familiar with it and understand how to read the charts or understand familial relationships. So to help you share your research with others, they also showed how you can easily make family history books to display family photos, trees and stories in a format family members can enjoy.
