We know you are concerned about the use of your Individually Identifiable Data (IID), and we are, too. CapMac will take reasonable steps to protect your IID from disclosure in violation of this policy. Information Collection and Use

CapMac collects information from people in several ways. We collect the names, e-mail addresses, city, Zip Code and phone number of members and business associates. This information is used only for routine business with the named parties, and in the aggregate in reports to CapMac members, demographic surveys, etc. CapMac collects news items and snapshots for the CapMac newsletter and for promotion of CapMac activities on the web site.

For each visit to the CapMac web site, our Web server automatically recognizes and logs the visitor's IP Address, domain name, browser type, access time, operating system, country of origin, page views, and user session. This information is used to help administer our site and diagnose problems, and in the aggregate in reports to CapMac members, demographic surveys, etc.

CapMac offers several optional on-line services, including forums, email, and web hosting services, that collect IID from the user, and use the information in different ways. In each case, the IID collected used is to provide the service, and in the aggregate to manage the service. Except as noted in this policy, CapMac does not release the IID collected to provide these services. Please keep in mind that whenever you communicate information on-line (e.g., through forum postings, email messages, or personal web pages) that information can be collected and used by others. If you include your contact information in a forum posting, email message, or personal web page, you may receive unsolicited contacts from other parties in return.

The forums service currently allows anyone to register and participate in on-line discussion forums. Registrants provide information in forum postings and profiles. You should consider all forum postings to be publicly available on the Internet (since registration is unrestricted). A forums registrant may provide self-descriptive information in their "forum user profile", and you should also consider your profile to be publicly available. In addition, if a CapMac member requests access to the "Members Only" forums, CapMac will mark their profile with the membership status of the registrant (e.g., "CapMac Member" for a member, or a blank status field for a non-member). You should consider this mark to be publicly available on the Internet.

The email service collects the minimal information needed to operate a standards-compliant (i.e., POP and SMTP) email service. Except for the inclusion of standard email header fields in outgoing messages, CapMac does not release any IID, including email addresses, as a result of use of this service.

The web hosting service publishes only the content provided by the user to the public Internet. CapMac does not release IID as a result of use of this service.

CapMac does not share information with other organizations for commercial purposes. We do not partner or have special relationships with any ad server companies, nor does CapMac permit downloadable data collection software ("spyware") to be hosted on the CapMac site. CapMac will not rent, lease, sell or otherwise share any Individually Identifiable Data (IID) that it gathers on its membership, registrants, or visitors.

Financial Transactions

CapMac partners with PayPal to perform on-line financial transactions (e.g., membership renewal). CapMac does not collect any information related to the details of the transaction (e.g., credit card or bank account numbers are not collected by CapMac). PayPal reports only the success or failure of each transaction, the name of the payee, and the amount, to CapMac.

Cookies

The CapMac server uses cookies to track visits to our web site and pages within the site, and to create user sessions for areas requiring login (e.g., the forums). CapMac releases no IID derived from the use of cookies.

Mail and Email Notifications

CapMac uses a confidential database to send postal and email notifications to CapMac members and forum registrants. If you do not want to receive email notifications of CapMac events, please send a request to info@capmac.org (you will still receive renewal notifications by email).

Web Hosting and Links to Other Sites

CapMac is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of user-provided material in the CapMac web hosting service. The CapMac web site contains links to web sites provided by other organizations and individuals, and CapMac is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these sites.

Review and Correction of IID

If you believe CapMac has collected information about you that is inappropriate or in error, you may request a review of all IID held by CapMac about you except automatically generated log files. CapMac will confirm the authenticity of the request, provide the IID for your review, and correct or remove any information at your request.
