Recent CapMac General meetings have featured these terrific presenters:
- June, 2007 - CapMac took a cloaer look at the historic interview of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates by the Wall Street Journal tech gurus Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher at this year's D5: All Things Digital conference. Steve and Bill discussed everything from their history to the future of computing.
- May, 2007 - Scott Harman of Xerox gave a presentation on Xerox's revolutionary solid ink printing and Adoce Certified Expert John Head showed off Adobe's LightRoom photo management & editing software and the Adobe CS3 family of applications.
- April, 2007 - Triple Play III returned with three CapMac members competing for prizes while providing our audience with presentations about their favorite ways to use a Mac. Keith Mitchell demonstrated VideoCue 2, Nancy Gravley showed off her favorite Mac Magic Tricks and Brandon Bielstein showed off his favorite useful Mac utilities.
- March, 2007 - CapMac Vice President gave a presentation on the newly released Airport Extreme Base Station.
- February, 2007 - CapMac members Brandon Bielstein and Jim Ryan demonstrated Boot Camp, Parallels, and Crossover Mac, three of the leading options that enable Intel-powered Macintosh computers to run Windows applications.
- January, 2007 - The CapMac membership enjoyed a replay of Steve Jobs' Macworld Expo Keynote Address featuring the introduction of the Apple iPhone and AppleTV.
- December, 2006 - Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus joined Capitol Macintosh for our traditional end of the year meeting featuring his always exciting, entertaining, and enlightening annual "State of the Macintosh" address. Bob once again showcased his favorite applications, games, and utilities. Our holiday raffle featured over 2,000.00 in donated software licenses, and every attendee took home a copy of our CapMac Holiday CD.
- November, 2006 - Karri Scott, Andrew Brazell and Dustan Coleman of Aspyr returned for a fourth straight year to show us the latest top games for the Mac, and provide a sneak preview of what's coming in the near future. We were treated to demos of Civilization IV: Warlords, Sims 2: Pets, Call of Duty 2, and the upcoming Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Waterpark Edition.
- October, 2006 - Triple Play II returned with three CapMac members competing for prizes while providing our audience with presentations about their favorite ways to use a Mac. Stephen Folberg presented iListen speech recognition software, Steven Rogers showed us how easy it is to create an iMovie and burn it to DVD with iDVD, and James Ryan shared his "Confessions of a Macintosh Neatnik."
- September, 2006 - Lesa Snider King, a nationally recognized graphics expert, trainer, author, and chief evangelist for iStockphoto.com taught us how to use Adobe's high-quality, user friendly, and affordable Photoshop Elements to make the most of our digital photos, and showed us how to use iStockphoto's vast library of stock images.
- August, 2006 - Dan Nolen of Apple Computer presented "Announcements from WWDC, including a look at Leopard," giving meeting attendees an exclusive first glimpse at the future of Apple's upcoming operating system.
- July, 2006 - Back in our UT College of Pharmacy meeting space we hosted Brett Field and Richard Thornton of Quark for a demo of the much anticipated and newly released QuarkXPress 7.
- June, 2006 - Our June meeting was cancelled when our meeting space became unavailable at the last minute. Scheduled presenters Brett Field and Richard Thornton of Quark kindly agreed to return in July.
- May, 2006 - Our "Triple Play May" general meeting was our first in the new Goodwill Community Center meeting space. Three CapMac members provided excellent presentations to a captive audience that voted for their favorite. In a close vote among all three presenters Michael Sidoric took top honors with his "Road Warrior Toolkit" presentation. Rick Ligas' presentation about Spotlight came in second, and Steve Cronin garnered third with an enlightening presentation about the little known features of iTunes 6.
- April, 2006 - Alex Suarez, Mac Genius at the Apple Store Barton Creek, presented the many benefits of the new Intel Macs, as well as discussing compatibility concerns that prospective buyers should be aware of. He also demonstrated an Intel-powered iMac booting into Windows XP using Apple's recently released "Boot Camp" software.
- March, 2006 - Brian Greenstone of Austin-based Pangea Software showed off his highly acclaimed new game Enigmo 2, and provided a "state of the art" presentation on QuickTime VR and Panoramic Photography, showing the latest Mac-based tools for creating 360 degree panoramas, the hardware required, and the methods for displaying them on the web.
- February, 2006 - Scott Rehling of Austin-based Lava Studios explained how they exclusively use Apple hardware and software in their production process, and showed samples of Vmag, a digital video magazine about the Texas Longhorns football team delivered via web and podcast.
- January, 2006 - replay of Steve Jobs' Macworld Expo keynote address, featuring a live report from CapMac member Reese Crowther in San Francisco.
- December, 2005 - Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus joined Capitol Macintosh December 15 for his always exciting, entertaining, and enlightening annual "State of the Macintosh" address. Bob presented his favorite applications, games, and utilities for the Mac and shared his unique insight into the future as we begin a new Intel-powered era of Macintosh computers. Our raffle featured over 700.00 in donated software licenses, and every attendee took home a copy of our CapMac Holiday CD.

They also brought along a great selection of their current games at special discount prices. We elected a new slate of CapMac Officers for 2006.
- October, 2005 - Jennifer Dyer and Gordon Bell of Prosoft Engineering demonstrated new versions of Prosoft's popular products, including Drive Genius, Data Rescue II, Data Backup and Picture Rescue, as well as their new iPod utility, Tune Tech, Additionally, they provided special discount pricing for Prosoft products. Winners of the 2005 Recruiting Contest were announced.
- September, 2005 - Jeremy Derr, Mac Genius at the Apple Store Barton Creek showed us how to turn a Macintosh mini into a home media center to play music, display photos and video, back up other Macs, control it remotely, and much more.
- August, 2005 - Christian Boyce, "Macintosh Consultant to the Stars" presented "Automating Everything: How to Make Your Mac Work For You" using the semi-hidden features in many popular programs, including iPhoto, Safari, Mail, and Photoshop. He also demonstrated using the Automator application in Tiger, and showed us how to use a Macintosh to automate your home.
- July, 2005 - Austin-based author Shelly Brisbin showed us the new features in all of the applications that comprise Apple's iLife '05, and described her upcoming book, The MacAddict Guide to Living the iLife '05. We also presented our very first Cap-A-Dillo Awards, recognizing Austin people, businesses, and services that go out of their way to support Austin's Macintosh community.
- June, 2005 - Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus joined us for a comprehensive look at Apple's recently released Mac OS X 10.4, Tiger and a demonstration of Doctor Mac Direct, a unique new service that provides expert technical assistance and training remotely.
- May, 2005 - Chelanie Israel of Adobe presented the newly released Adobe Creative Suite 2, including new versions of PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, Acrobat Professional, as well as Adobe Bridge and Version Cue.
- April, 2005 - CapMac members Richard Cardona, Glenn Chase, and James Ryan demonstrated how you can use Microsoft Virtual PC 7 to run Windows applications on your Macintosh, and reviewed its limitations so that you can have accurate expectations for this product. Additionally, they described important security steps you need to take to protect your computer.
- March, 2005 - Ethan Lowry, AppleCare Engineer for iPod presented "Become an iPod Expert," providing a comprehensive overview of the entire iPod product line and showing us how the iPod is much more than just a music player.
- February, 2005 - Wes Fryer of Texas Tech University presented "Integrating Technology in the Classroom - the Texas TIP Project," explaining how Apple Macintosh computers are helping shape the classroom of the 21st century.
- January, 2005 - replay of Steve Jobs' Macworld Expo keynote address, featuring a live report from John Braun of The Mac Observer.
- December, 2004 - Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus joined us for his always exciting, entertaining, and enlightening annual "State of the Macintosh" address, presenting his favorite applications, games, and utilities for the Mac as well showing off unique features of Apple's iSight and iPod. Thanks to generous software authors over $1,500.00 in software licenses were included in our monthly raffle, and everyone took home a special CapMac Holiday CD.
- November, 2004 - Glenda Adams, Roxie Garza, and Nestor Hernandez from Aspyr returned to show us the latest top games for the Mac, including Sim City 4:Rush Hour, Call of Duty: United Offensive, and MTX: Mototrax. They also brought along a great selection of their current games at special discount prices. We elected a new slate of CapMac Officers for 2005.
- October, 2004 - Alex Suarez, Mac Genius at the Apple Store Barton Creek provided a comprehensive presentation about the new G5 iMac, including a complete take-apart to demonstrate how virtually every component can be serviced by users.
- September, 2004 - Meredith Tucker of Intego demonstrated security solutions to help keep our Macs safe from hackers, vandals, and viruses. CapMac Board member Giles Bateman brought a new iMac G5, allowing attendees to be among the first in Austin to see this revolutionary new computer.
- August, 2004 - CapMac member Michael Sidoric presented Shareware 101: The Solution is Out There! highlighting the many helpful freeware and shareware solutions available for the Macintosh.
- July, 2004 - Apple Senior Consulting Engineer West Decker returned from the 2004 Worldwide Developer's Conference with a great presentation about new Apple displays and Tiger, the next version of Mac OS X which is scheduled to ship in the first half of 2005. Scott Aston, manager of the Apple Store at Barton Creek joined us to talk about the excitement of opening Apple's newest retail store and talked about the many events scheduled there this summer.
- June, 2004 - "Dr. Macintosh" Bob LeVitus showed us how to use Apple's GarageBand application to create a song from start to finish and shared tips from his book "GarageBand for Dummies." Brian Moore, Assistant Manager and Alex Suarez, Mac Genius from the new Apple Store at Barton Creek came to invite everyone to the grand opening.
- May, 2004 - Dan de GrandPre, co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of dealmac.com visited to help us learn about how to find the best deals on Macs and related peripherals.
- April, 2004 - Melissa Dewick and Dennis Cheung of Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit presented a sneak preview of the upcoming Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac. Scheduled for release in May, the long awaited new version includes Mac-first features such as Office Project Center, Word Notebook Layout View, Excel Page Layout View and the Office Compatibility Report.
- March, 2004 - Brian Greenstone of Austin-based Pangea Software showed us the newly-released Nanosaur II: Hatchling game, and everyone in attendance got free 3D glasses to enjoy it's special 3D effects. CapMac members Richard Cardona and Bill MacGregor provided mini-presentations about subscribing to RSS feeds and getting a free Thawte digital ID certificate for email.
- February, 2004 - Nick Hippe, Senior Technical Engineer at Macromedia joined us to demonstrate DreamWeaver MX 2004, the latest incarnation of one of the world's most popular web site authoring applications.
- January, 2004 - replay of Steve Jobs' Macworld Expo keynote address, featuring a live report from Bryan Chaffin, Editor-in-Chief of The Mac Observer.
- December, 2003 - Noted Mac-expert, author, and columnist Bob Levitus presented his annual "State of the Macintosh" address, demonstrating his five favorite new OS X features and showing his favorite applications, games, and utilities for the Mac. A free CD including demo versions of the software he showed along with CapMac officer favorites and games from Aspyr and Pangea was provided to every attendee. Over 500.00 in donated software licenses were included in the raffle!
- November, 2003 - Amy Torres, Nestor Hernandez, and Amity Lesko of Austin's Aspyr Media presented new and upcoming Mac games, including Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer and the first public preview of Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, currently in development. The great folks from Aspyr also sold many of their current games at a nice discount to all who attended. We also presented an award to Austinite Glenda Adams, Director of Mac and PC Development at Aspyr, for her significant contributions to the worldwide Macintosh community over the years.
- October, 2003 - CapMac Director-at-Large Tom Straus showed how to keep your Macintosh happy, healthy, and productive with commercial tools like Alsoft's Disk Warrior, Symantec's Norton Utilities, and ProSoft's Data Rescue, as well as free and shareware utilities.
- September, 2003 - Doug LaRue of MusicTexas.Com presented a special screening of the new feature documentary film The Austin Groove, produced with Apple's Final Cut Pro on a dual 1 GHz PowerMac with 1.5 terabytes of disk space.
- August, 2003 - James Voight, AppleCare Readiness Engineer for AirPort, and Murray Freeman of Wi-Fi.Texas.com provided presentations about wireless networking with a Macintosh and wireless network deployments in Austin.
- July, 2003 - Apple Systems Engineer West Decker provided an update of Apple's recent announcements at the Worldwide Developers Conference, including Panther, the next version of Mac OS X, and the new Power Mac G5. Plus, a special guest appearance via iChat AV and iSight to wish CapMac a happy tenth birthday!
- June, 2003 - Chilton Webb presented SuperCard, application authoring software which lets you build Macintosh applications without any prior programming experience.
- May, 2003 - CapMac Director at Large Mark Millard gave an in-depth tutorial on how to get the most out of Apple's newly released iTunes 4, and provided a tour of the new iTunes Music Store.
- April, 2003 - Matt Morris of Dantz Development provided a great presentation about "How to Back Up Your Mac," featuring Retrospect. Not only did Matt teach us how to plan and implement backup strategies, he fielded questions from our attendees for an hour afterwards!
- March, 2003 - Amity Lesko and Nestor Hernandez of Austin's Aspyr Media presented sneak previews of upcoming games SpyHunter, Harry Potter - Chamber of Secrets, plus current games Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, NASCAR 2002 Racing Season, Star Wars Jedi Knight II, and more. Aspyr also offered many games at half price to attendees.
- February, 2003 - CapMac officers Glenn Chase and Mark Millard showed how to maximize your CapMac online services, including how to create your own photo gallery on the CapMac server using iPhoto 2, build a "weblog" with Blogger, and set up a CapMac email account.
