|

From today's MacMinute.com: | Quote: | Pepsi/iTunes Super Bowl ad to feature teens sued by RIAA
January 23, 2004 - 08:46 EST
About 20 teens sued by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for unauthorized music downloads will appear in Pepsi's upcoming Super Bowl ad, which will launch the 100 million song iTunes promotion on Feb. 1. The ad identifies the teens as a "few of the kids sued for downloading music free off the Internet," according to USA Today.
Annie Leith, a 14-year-old from New York, appears with other downloaders in the ad, which features a special version of the 1966 Bobby Fuller Four hit "I Fought the Law" performed by Green Day. In the ad, Leith holds a Pepsi and says: "We are still going to download music for free off the Internet." Then the announcer says how: "Announcing the Pepsi iTunes Giveaway." |
Very clever! It will be interesting to see how many people will be switching to Pepsi products for awhile for a chance to win free music from the iTunes Music Store.

Glenn,
I think pepsico will do very well. Sources say the odds of winning are 1:3, so two songs per six pack -- not bad. _________________ The policies of the Executive Branch are the largest threat to the National Security of the United States. |

I didn't watch it because I didn't want to spoil the whole "Super Bowl experience," but AppleInsider.com has posted the iTunes/Pepsi Super Bowl ad "in it's entirety" for viewing on their web site.
Even if you want to see if you may have a long wait - apparently their streaming servers are overloaded with people who are hopeful to find something as radical and memorable as the original Apple 1984 commercial which aired during the Super Bowl 20 years ago.

Don't get your hopes up too much for this commercial. It's pretty bad.
On the other hand this parody of it is hilarious! (warning: it's a bit crude) |
