Steve Cronin shared his new Mac application called ”Whopaste” with us at the June 13th SIG and there was a great deal of interest. Those wanting to purchase the app can do so at Steve’s web site - http://www.whopaste.com/. You can also contact Steve with any questions you might have about the app at email hidden; JavaScript is required .
Watch for a review of this exciting new application in an upcoming CapMac newsletter.

We had a question come up at our iPhoto 09 SIG session about throwing away photos. If you throw away a photo from an Event are you throwing it away from the library as well. Tari Weaver had discarded a photo from an Event just that morning and she promised to check on it when she got home. Here is her answer. Thanks Tari.
“I just checked in iphoto 09. This is what I had done earlier today. I moved a photo to the trash (it was very out of focus). I was in events when I did this. I then emptied the iphoto trash. I got the message that I was permanently deleting the image. I said to continue. When I came back later today, I searched for that image number in events and photos. It is permanently deleted from both areas. I think in the 08 version, only if the image were in the main photo library could it be deleted. All the other references to that image were just aliases and could not be deleted from iphoto. So it looks like there are 2 places where an image can be deleted from iphoto–events and photos. I have not checked to see if the other two libraries (faces and places) will allow photos to be deleted too.”
As usual, our wonderful Craig has come through with easy instructions for us. Once you have your CapMac free web space, which you also get set up through Craig do the following:
From File menu choose Upload…In the Upload window, enter members.capmac.org for the server, Sites for the directory, your short username for User name and then your password. It worked for me and I was able to upload an unmodified Freeway template site: http://members.capmac.org/~ckgowens/. This way you won’t have to manually copy the files to the server over Apple File Service using Connect to Server…

36 people attended the SIG meeting today and Ian Schray did a wonderful presentation on Freeway. 16 attendees took advantage of the special CapMac price to purchase copies of the software. Everyone is encouraged to make their new web pages and show them off at the April meeting. Those who do will receive a special prize. This includes those who have already purchased Freeway. As promised, I am including links to the web sites that Ian shared with us. They are:
FreewayTalk
www.freewaytalk.net
FreewayCast
www.freewaycast.com
ActionsForge

I will post directions for posting web sites to your free CapMac web space in a day or so. Craig is checking on something for me. As soon as we have it straightened out I will post information for publishing your web sites.

Our March SIG meeting will feature guest speaker Ian Schray from Softpress, the makers of Freeway Express and Freeway Pro software. Freeway is used to make web pages. I thought you might like to see a couple of sites that were made by CapMac members using Freeway. Checkout out these URLs.

Have you tried the new beta version of Safari 4? There is a nice feature included for anyone who is visually challenged as I am at the moment. I had cathartic surgery a few days ago and my eyes and my brain are arguing loudly about my ability to read. Neither is winning. With this new feature in Safari 4, I can easily read web pages while all the healing takes place.
Select Safari > Preferences > Advanced and select the font size you prefer. When you close the window your choice is set.
By-the-way. The beta version of Safari 4 comes with an uninstaller so it is safe for you to try it. When you use the uninstaller, it reverts everything back to the way it was before you installed version 4.
Our March SIG meeting is really going to be special. Ian Schray, the U.S. representative for Softpress will be flying in just to present at our SIG meeting. Softpress makes Freeway Express and Freeway Pro, two excellent applications for creating webpages. I have used both and if you live in this area and have an interest in creating your own web pages you won’t want to miss this free presentation. We will meet March 14th from 2 - 4 PM at the Yarborough branch library, 2200 Hancock Blvd, in Austin, TX.
Attendees will be able to purchase Freeway at a reduced price. Anyone with questions about this or any other activity that we have can contact me at email hidden; JavaScript is required .
