Evidently, ‘manly men’ are the key to DROID’s marketing plan. According to a Myxer study on mobile entertainment consumption habits, iPhone dominates states across the country, but Android users have closed the gap and actually surpassed iPhone users in eight states – seven of them coming from West and Midwest states including Arizona, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
The results were compiled from Myxer’s BoomBox report for January 2010, which also revealed the latest demographic and consumption habits based on more than one million unique Myxer users from Android and iPhone operating system.
Android’s recent television ad series seemed to pander to the same demographic – cattle, pickup trucks, a hee-haw mentality – and distain for products with style, class or functionality. AT&T service is unavailable, or unreliable, in most of the same areas.
So, if you have a hyper-masculine persona, and sleep with sheep – there may be an Android phone in your future.
