If the past 48 hours are any indication – AT&T should have waited even longer to rollout MMS – their oft-delayed, beleaguered, multimedia messaging service.
Users reported that MMS uploads with photos often took 5 minutes or more, only to stop and crash before completing. Recipients reported hours-long delays in receiving MMS – and many just disappeared entirely. Even plain text messages were delayed, often more than 15 minutes.
Sending wasn’t the only issue either. Some CapMac members reported problems with the MMS update as well. Even after completing the carrier profile update to the required ‘AT&T 5.5′ and rebooting – the MMS camera and hooks never activated. Probably requiring a mind-numbing call to AT&T ‘customer service’.
An AT&T representative, quoted yesterday, said the MMS rollout had gone ‘smoothly’.
