Come See Cool Games from Aspyr at our November 10th Meeting

Thursday, November 9, 2006
7:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Civilization IV: Warlords Box Art
Austin based Aspyr Media was founded in 1996 by loyal Apple fans who decided to do something about the dearth of quality games for the Macintosh. Ten years later Aspyr has set itself apart as the world leader in Mac game publishing, owning over 60 percent of the Macintosh entertainment market.

Karri Scott, Andrew Brazell and Dustan Coleman of Aspyr will return for a fourth straight year to show us the latest top games for the Mac, and may even provide a sneak preview of what's coming in the near future.

Plus, the generous folks from Aspyr will once again sell a special selection of their current games at our meeting at prices you can't beat anywhere else, so don't forget your allowance! It will be a great time to pick up awesome gifts for friends, family, or yourself at prices you won't believe!

Aspyr enters Fall with a newly redesigned web site and a 2006 Apple Design Award for Best Mac OS X game, for The Sims 2.

While many of their most recent releases for Macintosh have been updates to existing games for universal binary compatibility, Aspyr announced on Sept. 28 they will be publishing The Sims 2: Pets expansion pack, with release expected in November.

This follows up their recent release of The Sims 2: Open For Business expansion pack, and a recent newsletter from Aspyr promised "we have several exciting Mac titles in the works for Christmas 2006 and early 2007." Maybe we'll have luck getting the inside scoop during Q&A at our meeting!

We'll be treated to special demonstrations of these awesome new games:

Aspyr has also been hard at work developing a new application called The Gamerhood that will allow Mac users to purchase and download a game directly to their Macintosh using a standard Internet connection. Scheduled for release this fall, it will allow Mac users to compare their machine's hardware against a game's minimum system requirements before purchase, play games without physical CD/DVD media, allow parents to restrict game play and online game store material based on ESRB ratings, and more.
