Jennifer Dyer and Gordon Bell of Prosoft Engineering

Thursday, October 13, 2005
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

As our digital collections of music, pictures, movies, and documents grow to fill our hard drives, the importance of utility software grows.

Our guest presenters for the October CapMac general meeting are Jennifer Dyer and Gordon Bell of Prosoft Engineering.

Jennifer and Gordon will demonstrate new versions of Prosoft's popular products, including Drive Genius, Data Rescue II, Data Backup and Picture Rescue.
They will also discuss their new iPod utility, Tune Tech, and have donated an iPod shuffle for raffle at the end of the meeting! Additionally, they will provide special discount pricing for Prosoft products.

It's a great opportunity to learn about these impressive utilities, how they can make your Mac experience better, and take them home at a great price.

Established in 1985, Prosoft Engineering specializes in creating professional quality software designed to be easily used by both novice and expert users. Prosoft started out as an engineering services company doing contract work with many of Apple's key developers including Disney, Epson, HP, Intuit, Iomega, Microsoft, Sony, TDK and VST. Prosoft has licensed multiple technologies to Apple including disk utilities, plug-and-play drivers, CD burning software, drive setup, password protection and disk image mounting.

Prosoft now develops software products that are engineered to empower users to effectively manage their data, focusing particularly on backup and recovery.
Do you have a corrupt hard drive or one that no longer mounts? Are other tools failing to even recognize your bad drive? Did you accidently delete pictures from your digital camera? If so, Data Rescue II is ready to perform emergency file recovery.
Drive Genius is an OS X utility designed to provide unsurpassed storage management. Featuring an easy-to-use interface, Drive Genius is packed with powerful tools such as a drive optimizer, a comprehensive repair facility for analyzing, repairing and rebuilding volumes, plus excellent testing capabilities with media surface scanning, performance benchmarking and data integrity checking.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were a backup utility that had the power that sophisticated users needed yet was as easy to use as the Mac OS finder? The answer is Data Backup.

Data Backup is a powerful backup utility that has raw power yet is simple to use, so that even a new computer user won't be intimidated by its long list of features. By separating basic functions from advanced features, Data Backup will save your valuable data with just a few mouse clicks, allowing you the luxury to sleep better at night.

TuneTech for iPod is the only comprehensive software utility geared specifically toward iPod users. Recover lost or damaged music, repair corrupted data structures, backup your iPod to an exact copy, permanently delete unwanted files, or optimize the file layout of your music.

Don't have an iPod yet? If you attend our meeting and join CapMac (if you haven't already) you could win one in our raffle!

We'll announce the winner of our Recruiting Contest with a new Mac Mini as the grand prize. Remember that if you joined or renewed your membership in CapMac during the contest you could win an iPod nano! And, we'll have important news about our Tutor-A-Teacher program assisting with an AISD project that involves hundreds of donated Macintosh computers.

Plus, questions and answers, our monthly raffle, the nicest Mac friends you could ever hope to meet, and more!

Members and non-members alike are welcome to attend.
Don't miss it!
