Alex Suarez from the Apple Store Barton Creek presents the all new iMac G5

Thursday, October 14, 2004
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

The iMac G5, recently hailed by TIME magazine as "the coolest personal computer yet created," will be our featured topic at CapMac's October 14 general meeting, with an in-depth presentation by local Mac Genius Alex Suarez from the Apple Store at Barton Creek.

If you attended our September general meeting you were among the first in Austin to see an iMac G5 in person.

Now you can be among the first to see a demonstration of it's revolutionary design for customer serviceability.

In addition to providing a comprehensive presentation covering features and specifications, Alex will open an iMac G5 and show how customers can replace virtually every component of this computer themselves.

Just two inches thick suspended on a sleek aluminum stand, iMac G5 features a breathtaking 17 or 20-inch widescreen LCD display and delivers outstanding performance, powered by a G5 processor running at either 1.6GHz or 1.8GHz, a completely redesigned system architecture, and a high-performance NVIDIA graphics card for stunning graphics.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra graphics processor with 64MB of DDR SDRAM delivers unparalleled 2D and 3D graphics performance and an immersive, photorealistic gaming experience with three times the frame rate of previous-generation processors.

And what better game to show it off than Nanosaur II, included with the iMac G5. Nanosaur II was introduced at our March 2004 CapMac meeting by Austin's own Brian Greenstone of Pangea Software.

Rob Pegoraro of the Washington Post points out how easy it is to make the transition to this new iMac: "There's also one amazing extra, a setup utility that automatically moves your data, settings and even programs from any old Mac with a FireWire port and Mac OS X. The Windows world has nothing equivalent to this."

Priced from just $1,299 the iMac G5 is available today, and as Walt Mossberg notes, "the new iMac actually costs less than comparable Windows machines," a fact you will want to be sure to share with your Windows using friends who are thinking about making a switch.

Join us for a special up close and personal look at this remarkable computer Mossberg called "...the most elegant desktop computer I've ever used, a computer that is not only uncommonly beautiful but fast and powerful, virus-free and surprisingly affordable."
