CapMac September General Meeting - The Austin Groove

Capitol Macintosh and MusicTexas.Com present a special screening of the new feature documentary film The Austin Groove.

Produced by Doug LaRue and Laura Rojo of Austin-based Glaze Studio using Apple's Final Cut Pro on a dual 1 GHz PowerMac with 1.5 terabytes of disk space, this full length documentary features interviews and perspectives on 30 years of Austin music history. The Austin Groove portrays the current state of living in "The Live Music Capital of the World" as a independent musician, and illustrates the magic and the challenges found within such a huge, diverse music community.

The Austin Groove is a 24p digital widescreen production mastered in 5.1 Digital Dolby (Cutmaster) sound by Carl Thiel, who recently completed work on Spy Kids 3D and has produced a number of albums including Bob Schneider's Lonelyland.
Doug will describe the process of making The Austin Groove and the challenges he faced, and answer questions from our audience about his experience shooting and editing his documentary.

Location: The CapMac General Meeting is generally held on the second Thursday of every month. We are fortunate to have an excellent meeting space in the UT Pharmacy Building in a tiered auditorium style classroom equipped with state of the art audio and video projection and internet access. There's even power outlets for your PowerBook or iBook!

Getting there: The UT Pharmacy Building is located on University Avenue near the intersection of West 26th Street (which becomes Dean Keeton St. as it passes by the UT Law School). View a map of the vicinity and get driving directions here. The white square in the graphic below shows the location of the Pharmacy Building.

Ample parking is now available just two blocks away in a new multilevel garage (PG4) recently constructed by the University. The garage is located at the corner of 27th Street and University Avenue, with the entrance on 27th Street. Cost is 3.00 for the whole evening.

The Board of Directors meeting is generally held on the first Wednesday of each month and is open to all members. Future meetings will occur on October 1, November 5, and December 3.
