Thursday, June 10, 2004

"So you wanna be a rock and roll star?" CapMac member and bestselling author Bob "Dr. Macintosh" LeVitus presents Apple's GarageBand and shows how to create your own song from start to finish.

Originally introduced at Macworld Expo in January as a new part of the 49.00 iLife '04, GarageBand is a revolutionary new music application that turns a Macintosh into a professional-quality musical instrument and recording studio for musicians and aspiring musicians alike.

Steve Jobs, introducing iLife '04 said “... GarageBand does for music creation what iMovie did for video and iPhoto did for photos — makes the creative process easy and affordable for everyone. Over half of U.S. households have at least one member who currently plays a musical instrument, so we think GarageBand is going to find a very receptive audience.”

Bob will provide expert advice from his soon to be released book GarageBand for Dummies about setting up a digital studio, laying down tracks, working with loops, recording with MIDI and software instruments, mixing tracks into songs, sharing creations with others, and much more.
We'll also have details about our new membership recruiting contest where you can win one of two brand new Apple iPod Mini music players, plan our attendance at the June 12 opening of the new Apple retail store at Barton Creek Square, and discuss the upcoming CapMac Family Picnic! iPod Minis
