May 8 General Meeting - iTunes 4 and iTunes Music Store

Thursday, May 8 , 2003
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

On April 28 Steve Jobs unveiled a new version of iTunes which includes a built-in, always open door to Apple's revolutionary new iTunes Music Store where you can browse over 200 thousand songs, then buy the ones you want with just one click at 99 cents each.

England's Herald called the debut "a move industry observers believe could rescue the down-trodden established music industry and alter the future of the way consumers buy music."

Rendezvous

Join us May 8 for a meeting devoted to music on your Mac. Learn about the cool new features of iTunes 4, how the iTunes Music Store works, and get great advice on how to import, manage, and enjoy your music collection on your Mac.

Mark Millard, CapMac Director-at-Large, music aficionado, and iTunes expert, will share tips to help you take advantage of the best music player and organizer in the world.

iTunes 4 comes complete with groundbreaking new features including:
  • Support for the new AAC audio format which delivers sonic quality nearly comparable to uncompressed CD audio while taking up substantially less disk space.
  • Rendezvous enabled (zero configuration) music sharing with other Mac computers on your local Ethernet or AirPort wireless network.
  • And if you have a Mac with a SuperDrive, you can archive your entire music library to DVDs for safekeeping.
iTunes Music Store

Steve Jobs on one of the benefits of buying music from the iTunes Music Store instead of downloading it from Napster-like internet file sharing sources:

"It's not stealing any more, it's good karma."

QuickTime 6.2 is required to import your music into the AAC format and to use music downloaded from the iTunes Music Store in the other iLife applications. In addition to the new iTunes Music Store and iTunes 4, Apple also introduced 3 brand new iPod portable music players. With new controls and cool new docks, they come in 10, 15, and 30 gigabyte sizes.

In addition, we'll have updates about our Special Interest Group events, tell you about our June presenter, and talk about our Tutor-A-Teacher initiative.

Plus, questions and answers, our monthly raffle, the nicest Mac friends you could ever hope to meet, and more!

Members and non-members alike are welcome to attend. Don't miss it!
