Wes Fryer presents Integrating Technology in the Classroom

Thursday, February 10, 2005
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Post Middle School students receive iBooks

Students at Post Middle
School receive new iBooks

Our presenter for the February CapMac general meeting is Wesley Fryer, Director of Instructional Support Services for the Texas Tech College of Education.

Wes was instrumental in helping two West Texas middle schools obtain grants from the Texas TIP (Technology Immersion Pilot) program to provide Apple iBooks for every teacher and student, and will help us understand one-to-one computing initiatives and the process of integrating technology in the classroom.
Founded by the Texas Education Association in 2004, TIP pioneers the concept of "technology immersion," providing all of the hardware, software, online content, training and follow-up support necessary to make a campus completely technology-enabled, giving all of those tools to both teachers and students simultaneously, and then allowing them to take that technology with them wherever they go.

Wes will present CapMac members with a unique insight into the Texas TIP program including:
  • status of technology immersion projects in the state of Texas
  • story of the West Texas TIP projects
  • status of research regarding technology immersion impacts nationwide
  • formative results / stories / results from West Texas TIP projects

Wes writes a twice-weekly column as the "IT Guy" for Technology and Learning Magazine and is also regularly featured in TechEdge, the quarterly magazine of the Texas Computer Education Association.

Be sure to join us for this special opportunity to learn how Macintosh computers are helping shape the classroom of tomorrow, no matter where a student is! We also encourage you to invite teachers and school administrators to this special event.
