Steve Jobs' keynote address from Macworld Expo

Thursday, January 9, 2003
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Steve Jobs, CEO and co-founder of Apple Computer, is our featured speaker, as we gather to view a videotape of highlights from his keynote address at Macworld Expo.

As the Macworld Expo web site explains, the keynote address has " ... a long-standing tradition of being the best place to learn first-hand about Apple's latest innovations and initiatives ... to discover what's hot, what's new and what's next for the Mac community."

Last year during his Macworld San Francisco keynote Steve Jobs introduced the all new flat-panel iMac and debuted iPhoto, as well as announcing the contract to provide iBooks for every middle-school student in the state of Maine.

We plan to have a live report via telephone from our own "CapMac correspondent" Nancy Gravley, who will be attending the Expo in San Francisco and hosting a conference about "Helping Your Parents & Grandparents Get Online." Nancy will provide firsthand reports about her observations from the Expo, including the coolest new products, as well as answering questions from our audience in Austin.

Plus, we'll be setting up CapMac email addresses and personal web space on the new CapMac server for all current members who attend. Our new online services offer 15 megabytes of POP email space and 50 megabytes of personal web space for you to call your own - free as a benefit of being a member of Capitol Macintosh!

Members attending the January meeting will get the first chance to establish accounts on the new CapMac server. Later in January we will update our web site with information explaining how to request an account for members who were unable to attend.

Macworld Expo features an abundant schedule of User Group Events, so if you plan to attend, let us know! We'd love for you to represent CapMac and hear a report upon your return! Our CapMac server is a Blue and White G3 (originally codenamed "Yosemite" within Apple). It runs Apple's Mac OS X Server 10.2 software, providing Apache-based web services.

Plus, questions and answers, raffle, the nicest Mac friends you could ever hope to meet, and more!

Members and non-members alike are welcome to attend. Don't miss it!
